There is no better time to mask up than now!  #DareToMask because The Body Shop recently released 5 new Expert Facial Masks formulated with various Superfoods using traditional beauty remedies from around the world.  These are created without parabens, paraffins, silicone and mineral oils; and cater to just about every skincare concern you may have.

Superfoods are trending at the moment, and it is no surprise that companies have found a way to get our favourite smoothie and acai bowl into our beauty shelf.  With The Body Shop’s comprehensive range of 5 Expert Facial Masks, it looks like we are all set to glow both inside and out.

the body shop himalayan charcoal purifying glow mask

The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask is inspired by Ayurvedic traditions, and uses bamboo charcoal sourced from the Himalayan foothills to draw out impurities and excess oil from the skin.  It also contains green tea leaves from Japan, which is rich in antioxidants and catechins to fight against signs of aging and help heal blemishes respectively.  The inclusion of tea tree oil further helps to purify the skin, and is great for keeping acne at bay.  Full list of ingredients here.

I found this Himalayan Charcoal Mask to be quite reminiscent of Glamglow’s Supermud [reviewed here], with the tiny bits of green tea leaves included as physical exfoliants.  Between the 2, I actually found The Body Shop’s offering to be better – lighter and smoother in texture, less drying on my already dehydrated skin, and the scrubby bits to be finer and less harsh.  Do note though, this mask dries extremely fast, and by the time I’m done applying it to my entire face, it has already started to dry up in places… which makes it even more convenient if you are multi-masking 1 after another!

the body shop british rose fresh plumping mask

The Body Shop British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask is the perfect everyday mask and suits just about every skin type!  It is a fresh gel mask that feels soothing on the skin, and includes bits of actual British rose petals that infuse the mask with a gorgeous floral scent and helps to boost skin’s hydration.  Rose hip oil is rich in anti-aging antioxidants, and essential fatty acids to aid in skin repair.  Full list of ingredients may be found here.

Apart from the luxurious sensory experience of applying this mask, The Body Shop British Rose Mask is a perfect 2nd step to one of the Himalayan Charcoal mask, as it helps to replenish water loss.  You can also use it together – Himalayan Charcoal on the oilier t-zone and British Rose on the drier cheeks!  Or use it on its own 2-3 times a week for dehydrated skin types, and see how well it plumps up the skin!

The Body Shop Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask

The Body Shop Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask is filled with nourishing honey that melts on the skin and envelops it with moisture, antioxidants and healing enzymes.  I have to say though, this smells and feels just like honey, without the sticky sensation; so you have to really love honey in order to enjoy it.  Personally, I’m not a big fan of the smell of honey… but I have to admit it is definitely soothing when my skin is stressed out.  The inclusion of marula and olive oil further boosts this mask’s healing properties.  Skin looks softer, less red, and feels soothed after use!  Here is the full list of ingredients.

The Body Shop Chinese Ginseng and Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask

The Body Shop Chinese Ginseng & Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask is a 2-in-1 creamy facial scrub and mask that also contains purifying kaolin clay, which makes this a gentler alternative to the Himalayan Charcoal Mask for those with severely dry skin.  Chinese ginseng has wonderful anti-aging properties and helps to stimulate skin renewal.  Rice extract also helps with cell turnover, and brightens the skin.  Sesame seed oil is rich in oleic and linoleic acids to soften the skin.  Here is the full list of ingredients.

This Chinese Ginseng & Rice Mask is as gentle as physical exfoliants go, and I love that it also has other purifying and skin softening properties built into it!  I like to apply a thin layer of this all over my face after cleansing, let it settle for about 10 minutes and then remove using a muslin cloth soaked in warm water.  My skin looks brighter, feels softer and smoother after use!

The Body Shop Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask

The Body Shop Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask is my favourite out of the 5!  This is a fresh juicy gel mask that contains tiny bits of ground argan seed kernel to gently exfoliate.  Acai is really popular right now, and it is packed with antioxidants, Vitamins A, B, C, and E to revive skin, heal and restore moisture.  Furthermore, it contains guarana seed extract which is known for battling fatigue.  The inclusion of babassu oil makes sure skin feels softer and smoother afterwards.  Full list of ingredients may be found here.

I can’t quite say what it is that exactly makes this Amazonian Acai Mask my top pick… it does just about everything – exfoliate, hydrate, brighten and soothe all in under 10 minutes!  I love the way it feels on my skin, and the way it smells makes me want to lick it up.

You don’t need all 5 The Body Shop Expert Facial Masks, but I bet you will want them all simply because they are so irresistible!  Priced at only SGD32.90 for 75ml, these give the high end branded masks a run for their money.  Out now at all The Body Shop stores, check them out for yourself!
